2 x 8: Motion
2x8 is an annual exhibition organized by the AIA/LA, showcasing exemplary student work from local architecture and design institutions throughout the Los Angeles region. The 2005 2x8: Motion at the Armory showcased select projects from the participating academic programs that exemplify its core vision. Through this important exhibition, AIA/LA hopes to forge an invaluable link between this emerging talent and the professional world, giving rise to significant collaborations and alliances vital to the improvement of our built environment.
This year's third annual 2x8 exhibition was entitled Motion . Open to many interpretations, Motion encompasses the wide variety of processes and pedagogies these institutions offer. Each of the participating institutions was given the freedom to utilize, define or manipulate the phrase as it wishes, creating a remarkable range of ideas and imagery illustrated in the selected projects.
The participating schools were Art Center College of Design/Environmental Design Department; California State Polytechnic University; Pomona/Department of Architecture; East Los Angeles College/Department of Architecture; LAIAD/Los Angeles Institute of Architecture and Design; Otis College of Art & Design; Pasadena City College; SCI-ARC/Southern California Institute of Architecture; UCLA Department of Architecture & Urban Design; UCLA Extension/Architecture & Interior Design Programs; USC/University of Southern California School of Architecture; Woodbury University/School of Architecture & Design.
